Flip the Culture, founded by Birmingham native and former Division I student-athlete Ernest “E” Josiah Kenty, was created to solve one of the most overlooked challenges in sports: the psychological and identity transitions athletes face at every stage of their athletic journey.
From early development to the final whistle, athletes are trained to perform—but rarely taught how to transition. Most navigate injuries, role changes, program shifts, and the end of their career without the mental framework to understand what’s happening to them.
E experienced this firsthand. After multiple injuries and a near career-ending setback, he battled the identity loss and uncertainty that so many athletes silently endure. That journey eventually led him to the TEDx stage, where he shared the very problem Flip the Culture now exists to solve: athletes aren’t prepared for the transitions that define their lives.
Flip the Culture exists to change that.
Rooted in E’s lived experience and his work as an award-winning educator, Certified Financial Education Instructor, and author, Flip the Culture transforms an athlete’s passion into psychological readiness. We teach athletes how to value transition rather than fear it—using mindset training, storytelling, and structured transition mapping.
Our mission is to equip athletes with the clarity, confidence, and mental tools needed to master every transition—during and after sports—so they can thrive long after the jersey comes off.
Through workshops, speaking engagements, curriculum-based programs, 1-on-1 Consultations and community partnerships, Flip the Culture helps athletes redefine identity, build resilience, and apply the discipline of sports to real-life success.
Whether an athlete is entering a new season, overcoming injury, adjusting their role, or stepping into life after sports, Flip the Culture ensures they don’t just survive transition—they understand it, embrace it, and thrive through it.
Ernest Josiah Kenty, a husband and Birmingham, Alabama native, is a former Division I student-athlete at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Early in his college career, Ernest “E” suffered a severe knee injury—tearing his ACL, LCL, MCL, and part of his meniscus during the second week of fall camp. Through relentless determination, he made an incredible recovery and returned to the field, culminating in a standout spring game where he recorded two interceptions, a touchdown, two pass breakups, and three tackles. Despite this remarkable comeback, coaching changes put his scholarship in jeopardy, and E realized that his love for the game had evolved. It was then that his journey of winning championships off the field began, as he discovered how to channel the spirit of football into purpose, passion, and personal growth.
Today, E is the founder and CEO of Flip The Culture, a platform dedicated to preparing athletes for the many transitions they face both during and after their sports careers, equipping them with the skills and mindset to perform at their best on and off the field. He also hosts the Flip The Culture Podcast, where he shares inspiring stories and actionable strategies from athletes, coaches, and leaders. Flip The Culture addresses the critical challenge of identity loss and lack of direction that athletes often experience, even while actively competing, empowering them with leadership, life skills, and financial literacy to navigate every phase of their journey.
E is a public speaker, author, content creator, and award-winning educator. He was recognized as the 2021-22 Teacher of the Year in his first year of teaching and the 2022-23 Outstanding Middle School Educator of the Year, and he is a two-time recipient of the Daniel Milam Student Leader Award at Murray State University. His work earned him a TEDxAlabaster opportunity, where he spoke about the psychological and identity challenges athletes face and how Flip The Culture provides practical solutions to thrive in every transition.”
E. Josiah is a respected leader whose influence was evident early in his life through resilience, discipline, and character. Upon returning to Birmingham, AL after seven years, he was invited back to his middle school, W. J. Christian, as a keynote speaker and was honored with the retirement of his jersey in recognition of his lasting impact.
His leadership was shaped at Ramsay High School, where a defining moment during a 2012 team workout revealed his exceptional endurance and mindset. That same year, he was elected varsity football team captain as a freshman—a role he held for four consecutive years, leading both on and off the field. Today, E. Josiah continues to give back to his alma mater and the Birmingham community, embodying servant leadership and lasting influence.

Transition looking cloudy?
When an athlete steps into a new season of life, the hardest part isn’t the shift, the uncertainty, or the change itself,
it’s the silence that comes after the routine, the structure, and the identity you’ve always known.
When the jersey comes off, many athletes find themselves without direction, without identity, and without the support they once relied on.
Only 1.5% of athletes go pro, but 100% face the transition.
What happens next is what truly defines their future.
That’s where Flip The Culture steps in.
We help athletes rewrite their playbook by transforming the discipline, teamwork, and resilience developed through sports into confidence, clarity, and real-world success.
Whether someone is unsure of their next step or struggling with identity after sports, we provide the guidance, tools, and support needed to build their next championship, in life.
